Fall Decorating Tips For The Home
H&L Edit - Fall decorating tips for the home
Ready or not, September has already come and gone and fall is officially in full swing! Although we always have a hard time letting go of those last warm summer days, October is a beautiful time of year here in Flagstaff. As the trees begin to change and the mornings have a cool bite to them, it’s only natural to think about cozying up indoors.
Every year it seems department stores release holiday items earlier and earlier, urging you to decorate while we’re still in the summer months. But as the first day of fall recently passed, it is now officially time for us to break out our autumn-inspired home decor! And with many items on sale, now is the perfect time to be shopping!
Warmly Welcome Guests
Get your porch and front entry ready for family, friends, and gatherings. Planters, pumpkins, wreaths, and lanterns are a great place to start. Consider fall shades for your floral arrangement. Purple, fuchsia, white, and red will add a pop of color, and boost your curb appeal!
Also, purchase faux pumpkins and battery-operated or solar-powered lights, that way your inviting entrance will outlast all of your fall festivities.
Tip: Joanns currently has incredible deals on lanterns and faux pumpkins. And you can never go wrong with Target's Magnolia collection!

Set the Table
Deck out the dining room in fall hues. We like to pair warm shades of orange and red, with a bit of bright white to keep with the open and airy feel of the home. Personally, we don’t like to keep a table set with dishes, chargers, and napkins. (Hello, dust!)
Instead, we opt for a beautiful table runner, candles and small touches of fall using faux foliage.
Tip: Target dollar section has an incredible fall selection, where we purchased a table runner and the floral decor for under $10.00!

Living Space Makeover
Whether you have a massive living room or small area to gather, make your rooms feel snug and cozy with a few easy changes. Think layers. Layering pieces in your home adds a cozy feel, just as layering your sweater with a jacket and scarf.
Swap out your spring linens and greenery accents for rich velvet and soft cotton pillows in fall shades. Add a throw blanket, floor pillows near the fireplace, and fall garland to your mantle to perfectly top it off.
Tip: If shopping for pillows with inserts, try Marshalls Home Goods for a great deal. If you’re looking for top-quality shams, shop Pottery Barn or Crate and Barrel.

Bring the Indoors, Out
If your fall weather is anything like ours, it’s unpredictable. Currently, we are lucky enough to be enjoying the crisp evening air without any snow. If you’re like us or living in warmer climates, create a living space on your patio. A comfortable outdoor sectional or chairs, paired with a firepit is perfect for those cool nights gathering with friends and family.
Tip: For an extra cozy evening, keep a basket handy inside with throw pillows and blankets that can be used outside.
